Instruction
E7018 is one of Anchor Weld’s welding consumable products. CJ506Fe carbon steel rods with coating, suited for both DC and AC. ll position welding, the seam is perfect with fine mechanical and resistance performance. Spatter minimal, slag easily detachable.
Application
Carbon steel or low alloy steel, ship hull plate of grade A, B, D, E. others like boiler, pressure vessel.

Directions
- The welding rod must be baked at about 400 for one hour before the welding
- The impurities such as rust, oil stain and water must be removed before the welding
- Short arc operation is required during welding where it is favorable to use narrow weld
THE MOST COMMON 7018 WELDING ROD USES
Because of the high tensile nature of the welds and their crack-resistant properties, the 7018 is most commonly used in industrial applications such as pipe welding, welding of pressure vessels, boilers, heavy equipment, ships, bridges, and manufacturing.
The 7018 also works pretty well on hard-to-weld metals which increases this electrode’s versatility.
Some of the hard-to-weld surfaces on which the 7018 electrodes can perform include surfaces such as simple low alloy steels and low-quality steels with a higher presence of sulfur. Surfaces that might face high levels of impact over a long time, any weld that might face an impact at a low temperature, or joints with very complex designs.
