ER70S-6 is one of Anchor Weld’s welding consumable products. It is a copper-coated low-alloy steel welding wire with good welding and processing performance. It features a beautiful shape, fewer splashes, and minor sensitivity to pore. It is used for all position welding and has the good mechanical performance of welding seam. CO2 is used as shielded gas.
It is mainly used for welding carbon steel and low-alloy structural steel, especially fast welding of thin plates and pipes.

Oil stains and rust must be removed from the surface of the weldment before welding, following appropriate welding standards.
ER70S-6 is widely used for welding mild steel, simple carbon steel and carbon steel. It is also used for dissimilar welds between carbon steel and low alloy steel.
The shielding gas when using gas tungsten arc welding (TIG) wire is pure argon.
Pure CO2 (C1 rated according to AWS A5.32) or a mixture of argon+CO2 is used when using ER70S-6 (ER49S-6) with gas metal arc welding (MAG).
The equivalent rod welding rod (SMAW) for ER70S-6 is the E7018 electrode. The equivalent TIG/MIG wires of ER70S-6 are ER70S-2, ER70S-3, etc. ER70S-2 is widely used due to the excellent fluidity of the weld and the higher deoxidizing elements present in the wire.
The E7018-1 rod is also equivalent to ER70S-6 or ER70S-2. This rod provides higher welding toughness compared to the E7018 type rod.
